Family photoshoots are suited to both in-home and outdoor locations, or a combination of the two if you have an outdoor space that you love nearby. These sessions are all about the little ones having fun and showing their personalities while I do my best to keep up!

Lifestyle photography in your family home

I travel within Ormskirk and the surrounding areas to meet your family in your own home and capture authentic, natural images of you and your loved ones together. Choose something you love doing as a family - maybe your kids love stories and you have a favourite book you like to read together, or you might spend time baking as a family - biscuit decorating competition anyone!? Whatever it is that makes your family unique, why not incorporate that into your photoshoot. You'll soon forget I'm even there, making for some gorgeously candid shots and genuine moments of love and interaction.

Outdoor family photos to brighten your walls

If you prefer an outdoor setting for your images, why not choose one of the beautiful natural spaces we are so lucky to have on our doorstep? From breezy beaches and dunes on the coast to lush green woodland and parks, the natural backdrops we have available locally are truly stunning and so varied. I'm always on the look out for my new favourite outdoor location to shoot at! Maybe you already have an idea for the perfect spot, or a special place that has meaning for your family, but if not I have loads of suggestions for gorgeous sites around Ormskirk, Southport and the surrounding areas.

What should my family wear for our photoshoot?

Outfit choice is so important but it can be tricky to know where to start! Here are a few of my basic tips for styling your family:

 

  • Choose one outfit first as a focal point to style the rest of your clothing around - this outfit will direct your choice of patterns, textures and colours for everyone else.

  • Stick to mostly neutrals with a few key pops of colour in complimentary tones and varying shades. Pinterest is great for colour palette inspiration. 

  • Utilise a variety of textures and consider including one or two pieces featuring small patterns such as a ditsy floral or small polka dots, but stay away from logos, slogans, and large prints as these can be distracting.

  • Most importantly, ensure that everyone feels comfortable and happy in their chosen outfit.

Is a lifestyle family photoshoot a good choice for me?

If you're looking for a series of stiff, posed, 'say cheese'-style awkward family line ups on a plain background then the short answer is no, lifestyle family photography is not a good fit for you!

My in-home and outdoor lifestyle photoshoots are all about capturing the beauty of the everyday, documenting moments of natural, authentic interaction between you and your loved ones, albeit with a little extra polish and guidance from me!

If you want to be able to look back on your family album in years to come and actually 'feel' how that moment really felt, almost finding yourself back in that second of time, hearing the laughter and remembering the smell of your child's hair as you snuggled them close  - then yes, a lifestyle photoshoot is absolutely right for you. Family sessions for me are all about capturing the genuine essence of your family at a single, fleeting stage of your journey to be preserved and treasured for a lifetime.

How much is a family picture?

My in-home or outdoor family photoshoots start at £200 including a 1 hour photoshoot and 10 digital images with matching 7x5'' prints and options to upgrade to include more images, prints and products. These shoots take place in your own home or at an outdoor location local to Ormskirk and surrounding areas on a date and time of your choice. Full details are available on my pricing page. 

Private shoots a little out of budget at the moment? Keep an eye out on social media or sign up for my mailing list to spot my mini session dates going live. I run several mini sessions throughout the year on specific dates and locations around the Ormskirk area with limited availability - these are 20 minute mini photoshoots including 3 digital images for £75 and are a great way to update your family photos when money is a little tighter or if you only need a few images to freshen up your frames.
